There will be a phased approach to these changes over 3 years from September 2021.
Special education needs support will continue to run until 2024, when additional learning needs support is fully adopted.
Councils and school settings will work with children, young people, parents and carers to make sure everyone understands the changes.
Families will have access to impartial information, advice and support. This will be a legal requirement of the change.
