The Behaviour Support Team includes:
- A team of specialist teachers, specialist teaching assistants and an exclusion officer.
- The Health and Exceptional Circumstances Team who provide tuition to pupils who cannot attend school either because of illness or special circumstances.
- Bryn y Deryn Pupil Referral Unit (PRU)
The specialist teachers provide support, training and guidance to schools and parents/ carers for pupils experiencing social emotional and behavioural difficulties. When pupils display these difficulties there are often underlying causes such a speech delay, literacy difficulties or underlying medical conditions so a multi team/ agency approach is needed to meet the child or young person's needs. The team works closely with all teams in the Education service and with the Child and Adolescent Mental Health ServiceLink opens in a new window (CAMHS).
Talk to the SEN Coordinator (SENCo) at your child's school to find out more about specialist support for pupils with social, emotional or behavioural difficulties. Please contact the school's office to find out who the SENCo is at your child's school.
