It is important that you tell us which vehicle you will be bringing when you book a visit to a recycling centre.
Please make sure you know which vehicles you can bring.
Vehicle restrictions are based on:
- potential amount of waste you can fit in the vehicle,
- potential use of the vehicle for example business use, and
- height and weight restrictions at our centres.
Vans you can bring to a recycling centre
The following vehicles are classed as vans even if they are your household’s only form of transport, and are solely for domestic use.
You can bring these to Bessemer Close recycling centre only:
- Short wheeled base vans
- Campervans or caravanettes
- Open back pick up (covered or uncovered)
- Crew cab transporters
- Cars with no rear windows or blacked out rear windows
- People carriers with more than 7 seats
Cars with trailers are also classed as vans.
Van height is 2m maximum. Trailer size is 2m x 2m maximum

Recycling Centre terms and conditions
Cars you can bring to a recycling centre
The following vehicles are classed as cars and can be brought to a recycling centre:
- Standard cars
Must have rear windows. No trailers attached.
- SUVs
Without an open back pick up.
- People carriers
7 seats maximum, with only the last row of seats folded.
- Any disability adapted vehicle
Vehicles you cannot bring to a centre
These vehicles are not permitted on site at our recycling centres:
- High top vans
- Medium top vans
- Long wheeled base vans
- Tipper vehicles
