Cardiff has a free park and ride service to take people to and from the University of Wales Hospital.
There are also services available for major events in the city and for shoppers.
Hospital
Cardiff and Vale NHS Board provide a free park and ride service at Cardiff East which runs to and from the University Hospital Wales.
The car park is available for car sharing and the Sat nav reference is CF23 8HH.
This service is only available for staff, patients, and visitors attending the hospital.
How to get there
From the East:
- come off at junction 29 of the M4
- take the second exit on the roundabout
- follow signs for Park and Ride car park.
From the West:
- come off at junction 30 of the M4
- take the third exit on the first roundabout

take the second exit on the second roundabout.
- take the second exit on the third roundabout, onto the A48 heading towards the city centre.
- take the first exit on the A48 and follow signs to the car park.
Opening times
Monday to Friday - 6.25am to 9pm
Saturday – 7.30am to 9pm
The site closes soon after the last bus has arrived, once all passengers have left.
There are no vehicle height restrictions at the site.
The site has CCTV but vehicles are parked at the owner’s risk.
You cannot leave your vehicle overnight at the site.
Events Park and Ride
The council organises park and ride services for large events held at the Principality Stadium.
Shoppers Park and Ride
You can park at County Hall car park for free on weekends and bank holidays (except on major event days) and catch the number 6 Cardiff Bus service from Hemmingway Road bus stop into Cardiff city centre.
You can pay the driver on the bus or use the Cardiff Bus App.
You can also reach Cardiff bay or the city centre by walking or using an Ovo bike available from outside the County hall main entrance.
