Pay your Council Tax

You can pay your Council Tax in the following ways:

Pay your Council Tax online

Use our secure online payment system to pay your Council Tax bill.

You will need the following:

your Council Tax account number
(an 8 digit number starting with a '1' or '2' found on the top right hand corner of your bill)
your Debit or Credit Card
the amount you want to pay

You can set up a direct debit to pay your Council Tax directly from your bank account every month.

You can use a debit or credit card to pay over the phone. This is a 24 hour automated payments system.

You will need to have the following to hand before you call:

your Council Tax account number (found on the top right hand corner of your bill)
your Debit or Credit Card
the amount you want to pay

Please send payments by cheque with your name, address and council tax account number to:

Cheques should be crossed and made payable to Cardiff Council. Post-dated cheques are not accepted.

Please do not send cash by post.

Please ask if you need a receipt.

You can pay your Council Tax at all post offices (by cash or cheque) and at shops displaying the PayPoint sign (by cash only).

You will need a Council Tax payment card. You can request a card by completing the form.
