A community poll is a ballot of everyone who is on the electoral register within a particular community on a question affecting that particular community.
The poll may be requested by electors at a community meeting or by Community councillors for the area. If the request is valid, the council is obliged to arrange the poll.
The result of the poll does not bind the council to any action, but we must consider the result and inform the persons who requested the poll of what actions, if any, we intend to take.
