Cardiff Music Board

​​​​​​Cardiff Council aims to establish an Independent Cardiff Music Board to support, sustain and grow Cardiff’s music ecosystem​​​​.

The purpose of the board is to champion Cardiff’s music scene locally, nationally and internationally, protect and promote music at grassroots and all levels, providing a platform for increased communication and collaboration across the sector. 

The Cardiff music board will enable experts from various sectors to work together towards shared goals to benefit and develop the music ecology and business in Cardiff, supporting the aspiration of Cardiff being celebrated as a music city.​

Apply to become a Board Member 


We would like to invite applications to join the Cardiff Music Board. The Cardiff Music Board will be made up of 18 members representing a range of skills and expertise, as well as the city’s diverse communities. The Council will manage an open call of expressions of interest for the Cardiff Music Board based on this criteria. The Council will ensure board diversity of representation and gender balance.

Prospective members will sign up to the draft Terms of Reference, which are subject to approval of Cardiff Council Cabinet.

Subject to Cardiff Council Cabinet approval, the board will be chaired by the Leader of the Council, supported by Officers, with the Council acting as secretariat. Council Officers will manage the initial selection process, employing Sound Diplomacy as independent assessor for recruitment.

The deadline for applications is Sept 13th 5pm 2019.


The Council welcomes applications in both English and Welsh. Applications received in Welsh will not be treated less favourably than applications submitted in English.
