Pension Credit
If you are state pension age and on a low income, you may be able to get Pension Credit to help towards your living costs. This is different to your state pension and does not affect it.
If you already get Pension Credit, you may be able to get other support to help you with the cost of living, such as:
- help with rent costs,
- help with council tax,
- Warm Home Discount, and
- help with NHS costs.
Benefit calculator
Our benefit calculator will help you find out what benefits and grants you can claim.
Attendance Allowance
If you are state pension age and have care needs, you could be eligible for Attendance Allowance to cover the cost of your care.
The amount you get will depend on your disability or care needs.
If you already get Personal Independence Payments (PIP) or Disability Living Allowance (DLA), you cannot claim Attendance Allowance at the same time. You may be better off on your current benefits. You can check this with the Money Advice team on 029 2087 1071.
Help with your rent
If you are state pension age, or live in supported or temporary accommodation, you could get Housing Benefit to help you with the cost of your rent.
Help with your council tax
If you are on a low income, you may be eligible for council tax reduction.
